A new grant has become available for owners of small shops and craft sellers in Malaga. There is nearly 1 million euro up for grabs, partially supported by EU funds.
The Junta de Andalucia has launched a program of grants to assist small retail business owners and craft workshops financially. There is five million available across the whole region.
If approved, the grant application can cover up to 100% of a planned investment. The full amount has to be paid upfront if under 6,000 euros is needed. If this is not the case, half of the amount will be expected at the beginning and the other half on completion.
Projects must fit into one of the two streams: those that are designed to enhance the use of new technology within the business, with a particular emphasis on encouraging eCommerce or online sales. The maximum help for this is 6,000 euros or 12,000 if the owner has multiple premises.
The other stream has the goal of modernising the business to attract new business and the grants available range between 15,000 and 26,250 euro. This could equate to new furniture or a total refurbishment.
In order to apply, the workshops, self-employed or limited companies must be registered correctly as retailers. Those interested have until the 1st of March to apply for grants.
