The Rainbow Apartments have now opened in Benalmadena and they provide individuals reaching advanced ages with the ability to live without fear of discrimination as a result of their sexual orientation.
The official inauguration took place last Thursday and as a result, Benalmadena has become the first town in Andalucia to have a residential complex just for gay senior citizens. The project was managed by Korian Spain and includes apartments located on the Nueva Torrequebrada urbanisation.
People can stay for short, medium, and long stays and have all necessary amenities within reach. These include communal spaces, gymnasium, a heated pool, cleaning services, a 24-hour medical service, leisure areas, a reception, and gardens.
According to a number of Spain studies, roughly 80% of the population here over 65 is homosexual. However, the actual percentage is thought to be considerably higher than this.
One of the Advisors to the Rainbow Apartment complex has said that this facility provides a space free of any kind of LGBT-phobia with people who can share experiences, time, and activities.
