Granada and Malaga will soon be connected by a train service starting in April. There will be two trains going in each direction and the journey will take one hour and ten minutes. The railway service is set to begin on April 4th, just before Easter week.
Renfe, the railway company, has begun selling tickets for the new services. This will be the first-ever direct train between these two areas. Initially, there will be two trains per day in each direction. One leaving Granada at 7.40 am in the morning and 6.50 pm in the evening. In Malaga, the morning train will leave at 9.25 am while the evening train will depart at 8.25 pm.
Both will stop at Loja and once they are in service, they will also stop at the future Antequera-Centro station. These train services will be able to transport 6,600 people per week. In the next stage of the scheme, there will be an additional train in each direction each day. The trains have 237 seats and a total of four carriages. These include an adapted carriage for people with mobility issues.
They can travel up to 250 kilometres per hour. This new route will cost 37 euros for a return ticket and 23.10 euros for a single. Different discounts will be available and occasionally, you will be able to travel between Granada and Malaga for just 8.50 euros for a single journey.
