Mariló Olmedo, Councillor for Education, participated in a promotional video that encourages parents and students to arrange events to raise funds for the charity’s latest Paediatric Palliative Care Unit.
She visited the Cudeca Hospice in Benalmádena this week to support the campaign launched by Colegios Solidarios, the cancer charity. The campaign is essentially a fundraising initiative aimed at Malaga schools.
It was initially launched in 2021 to assist the charity in getting over financial troubles which were caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Mijas town hall has shown and pledged its support for the campaign.
The councillor has also taken part in a promotional video that will be utilised in schools and on social media platforms to encourage parents and students to arrange events to raise the funds needed for the charity’s latest Paediatric Palliative Care Unit.
Olmedo said that they are requesting each school organises some sort of a fundraising activity so that Cudeca can help many families and patients who need this new unit most.
The campaign will also entail a series of talks to teach students about the need for the new children’s centre. The centre will be situated in Joan Hunt’s former home, the founder of the charity who passed away last year. The organisation is inviting the educational community to create any sort of event whether that is a race or sponsored walk, bake sale, etc.
